Salary and Benefits:
Location: Whitehorse, YT or Yellowknife, NT (other Northern locations will be considered on a case-by-case basis).
Salary and Benefits:
- Base salary (ranging from $55,000 to $70,000 based on relevant education and work experience)
- Northern Top-Up ($20,000 if you reside in the Northwest Territories, the Yukon or Nunavut)
- Full Benefits & Annual RRSP Contributions

The Role
The Marketing & Communications Manager plays an important part in empowering Indigenous entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses and livelihoods across the North.
This position takes a lead role in implementing EntrepreNorth’s marketing and communications strategy and actioning plans to grow awareness of our brand, our program offerings, and our impact. EntrepreNorth amplifies narratives that inspire new ways of doing business and telling stories that inspire a better future, and the Marketing Manager will play a key role in this impact storytelling work. They will also provide direct support to our Marketing Specialist to help grow a network of Indigenous entrepreneurs who are innovating solutions to strengthen economic resilience and community wellbeing for generations to come.

This position takes a lead role in implementing EntrepreNorth’s marketing and communications strategy and actioning plans to grow awareness of our brand, our program offerings, and our impact. EntrepreNorth amplifies narratives that inspire new ways of doing business and telling stories that inspire a better future, and the Marketing Manager will play a key role in this impact storytelling work. Key Outcomes for this Role
- A growing movement of Indigenous entrepreneurs who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence to start and grow a business and develop a sustainable livelihood
- EntrepreNorth is positioned as a culturally-resonante place of innovation and learning that serves Indigenous communities
- The implementation of EntrepreNorth’s marketing and communication strategy is aligned with the project’s strategic and impact goals, objectives and funding agreements
- EntrepreNorth’s program offerings and resources reach a wide range of Indigenous entrepreneurs across Northern Canada through media channels that are accessible, innovative and consistently relevant to potential participants and partners; e.g EntrepreNorth’s website, online marketplace, social media channels, and in-person networking events
- Compelling impact stories are produced and shared as a way to elevate Indigenous voices and excellence
- Across the North, Indigenous entrepreneurs are building their social capital by attending business and innovation events hosted by EntrepreNorth
- Marketing and communications activities are supported by the effective and creative use of technology and digital tools
- Partnerships are developed, nurtured, and recognized through the implementation of a strategy that centers EntrepreNorth’s Mission and Guiding Principles
Strengths and experience
- An experienced marketing and communications leader, with a degree or diploma in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field; OR significant experience promoting projects and programs in the North
- Has a deep understanding and experience of working in Indigenous communities, and/or culturally sensitive environments
- Loves to be creative and take a hands on approach to marketing & communications - with a strong aesthetic sense for graphic design
- Is able to leverage digital tools, media, and software to design, create, and deliver the marketing & communications strategy. For example:
- Adobe InDesign/Illustrator & other Creative Suite tools, Canva
- Web/content management and analytics
- Digital/video production
- X, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Hootsuite
- A highly self-motivated leader, who is able to think strategically, take initiative and problem-solve to see their projects through to completion
- An excellent communicator who builds and maintains strong and lasting relationships with colleagues, partners, communities, and program participants
- Highly organised and able to manage competing deadlines, priorities and needs
