Land Crafted

Rooted in the North.
Carried by Story.

The Land Crafted video series invites you into the lives of five Northern Indigenous entrepreneurs from EntrepreNorth’s first cohort. Through their stories, you’ll witness the challenges they’ve faced, the resilience they’ve shown, and the triumphs they continue to achieve on their entrepreneurial journeys.

Each of these entrepreneurs is crafting products that carry the essence of their homelands. From everyday essentials to pieces of wearable art, their creations are rooted in culture, tradition, and respect for the land. Whether it’s Uasau Soap’s bowhead whale oil body butter, caribou antler earrings from Hinaani Design, beadwork-embedded soaps from The Yukon Soaps Company, spruce oil sprays from Dene Roots, or muskox horn jewelry by Tania Larsson, each product tells a story of place and identity.

This business is a way to reconnect our people to the land. I rely on people in my community, my family and friends, to be out there harvesting. Spruce tips, rose petals, juniper berries, labrador tea… these are beautiful gifts that the land provides, which I then turn into soaps.

– Joella Hogan, Owner, The Yukon Soaps Company

Together, these businesses illuminate how entrepreneurship can be both an act of cultural expression and a pathway to sustaining relationships with the environment. Land Crafted is more than a showcase of products—it’s a celebration of Northern innovation, intergenerational knowledge, and the power of creating from the land.
