Walk in Beauty

Every Stitch Tells a Story

The Walk in Beauty video series shares the stories of Northern Indigenous fashion entrepreneurs who are weaving together business, culture, and identity. As members of EntrepreNorth’s Circumpolar Fashion Cohort, twelve Northern Indigenous women came together to create fashion that is authentic, contemporary, and deeply rooted in the beauty of their cultures and peoples.

During the cohort’s first Gathering in Yellowknife, NT, and Whitehorse, YT, Gwich’in Elder and musician William Greenland offered closing remarks, sharing the Diné concept of Nizohni, which translates to “beautiful.” He reminded the group that to walk in beauty is to move through life with intention, respect, and connection—to ancestors, to culture, and to one another. This teaching became a guiding theme for the cohort, inspiring each entrepreneur to step into her strength and use her creative gifts to uplift her community.

The Walk in Beauty series captures these journeys and celebrates Indigenous fashion as an act of resistance, resilience, and cultural pride. Through each story, viewers witness how Northern designers are not only making clothing and accessories, but also reclaiming narratives, sustaining traditions, and envisioning a future where culture and commerce walk hand in hand.
